Security Leaders to Discuss OT Defense Strategies, IoT Vulnerabilities and Unified Monitoring Systems
Princeton, NJ – The Virtual IoT and OT Security Summit scheduled to be hosted by ISMG on December 5 will address mounting challenges in industrial cybersecurity. The event will examine advanced defense strategies as organizations face increasing threats across their connected industrial systems and smart devices. Top executives from aerospace, automotive and manufacturing sectors will share insights on supply chain security, technology convergence and continuous monitoring strategies.
“The convergence of IT and OT environments has created unprecedented security challenges for industrial operators,” said Jennifer Eisenhofer, vice president of events at ISMG. “This summit brings together security leaders who have successfully navigated these complex waters.”
Cohesity’s Global Cyber Resilience Report 2024 showed that only 2% of the respondents were able to recover data and restore business processes within 24 hours after a cyberattack. The summit’s opening session – titled “Fortifying Operations: Crafting a Resilient OT Cybersecurity Framework Across Industries” – will aim to address this gap and explore comprehensive approaches to ensure the resilience of industrial security systems. Anne Coulombe, CISO, Werfen; James Johnson, CISO, John Deere; and Amit Chaudhary, vice president and head of cyber security North America and defense, Rolls-Royce, will demonstrate how businesses can strengthen their defensive postures through enhanced visibility and threat detection.
The session will outline methods for creating adaptive security frameworks that evolve with emerging threats while maintaining operational continuity. Attendees will discover proven techniques for implementing security controls that protect critical assets without disrupting essential operations.
A focused technical session will examine security requirements for connected devices in manufacturing environments. As production facilities adopt more smart sensors and monitoring systems, security teams face growing challenges in protecting these essential components. With Zscaler’s ThreatLabz report showing a 45% year-on-year increase in IoT attacks, Patty Ryan, CISO, QuidelOrtho, and CyberEdBoard member, and Julio C Padilha, CISO, Volkswagen do Brasil, will discuss approaches to device security, from enhanced authentication protocols to advanced network segmentation. Panelists will demonstrate successful strategies for integrating device protection with broader industrial security programs, creating seamless defensive coverage.
Sessions will also cover evolving attack patterns and countermeasures in industrial settings. Experts will share insights on threat actor behaviors and effective response strategies. Speakers will explore the balance between automated security measures and human oversight in critical operations.
“What sets this event apart is its focus on practical, tested solutions rather than theoretical approaches,” Eisenhofer said. “Attendees will learn from peers who have implemented successful security programs across diverse industrial environments.”
This summit arrives at a crucial time as organizations worldwide strengthen their industrial defenses. By uniting leaders across manufacturing, aerospace and technology sectors, the event promises actionable strategies for building robust security programs and fostering security-conscious cultures. The Virtual IoT and OT Security Summit stands as a testament to ISMG’s commitment to provide insights and impart knowledge to help protect critical infrastructure in an increasingly connected world.
