Fraud & Breach Prevention Summit Brings Together Experts in the Canadian Cybersecurity Community

Senior Practitioners and Technology Providers Convened in Toronto for Best-in-Class Event

Princeton, N.J. September 19, 2016

Information Security Media Group, the leading media provider to the information security community, hosted its latest Fraud and Breach Prevention Summit in Toronto on September 13 and 14. The event brought together senior-level cybersecurity practitioners across multiple verticals, including finance, government, healthcare, retail and energy.

“Our annual Summit in Toronto brings together cybersecurity professionals focused on issues specific to the Canadian market looking for practical takeaways from an esteemed lineup of subject matter experts,” says ISMG General Manager Mike D’Agostino, who attended the event. “This year’s sold-out event provided our senior-level attendees both insight and direct access to thought leaders from the U.S. and Canada about such pressing topics as insider threat detection, how data will be secured in the future and ransomware, among others. The sessions offered detailed information on a wide range of complex challenges, as well concrete strategies for combatting them.”

Steve Durbin, Managing Director at Information Security Forum, delivered the Wednesday morning keynote, “The Emerging Threat Landscape: How to Keep Ahead in Cyberspace,” which addressed how organizations can prepare for unknown threats and withstand high-impact attacks. Gord Jamieson, Head of Visa Canada Risk Services, delivered the afternoon keynote, “Securing Data in the Future: Lessons from the Payment Card Frontlines,” which provided attendees with strategies for protecting data breaches and fraud based on payment card industry practices.

Industry influencers from the cybersecurity community led sessions in both the Fraud and Breach Prevention tracks throughout the event. Subject matter experts from organizations such as Arbor Networks, F5 Networks, Gemalto, IBM, Skybox Security and Venafi led sessions on how to leverage human behavior to disrupt threat actors, reduce the possibility of digital certificate fraud, and gain visibility into an organization’s attack surface, as well as developments in Card-Not-Present fraud detection and response.

Summit attendees engaged with industry influencers in a variety of settings, including presentations with leading SMEs, one-on-one meetings in the exhibit hall, panels that brought together experts from different sectors to debate the best methods of working effectively with law enforcement and regulators, peer-to-peer “Speed Networking” sessions and VIP roundtable dinners.

The Toronto Fraud & Breach Prevention Summit was just the latest in a global series of information security events ISMG has conducted throughout 2016. ISMG’s global Fraud and Breach Prevention Summit series continues through the rest of 2016 in London (November 9) and Singapore (November 22). ISMG also will host its yearly Healthcare Security Summit, which focuses on cybersecurity challenges unique to the healthcare industry, in New York November 1 and 2.
