Second Edition to Address Compliance, Critical Infrastructure Protection and Spain’s Digital Transformation Strategy

Princeton, NJ – The EspañaSec Cyber Summit, hosted by QG Media – an ISMG company, will return to Madrid on Feb. 10-11, 2026, for its second edition. The summit will convene CISOs, security directors, policymakers and industry experts to examine strategic, operational and regulatory pressures shaping Spain’s cyber resilience.

Anchored by the theme, “Forging the Future: Building Digital Resilience and Capability in Spain,” EspañaSec 2026 underscores cybersecurity’s crucial role in advancing the España Digital 2026 strategy. The two-day summit is dedicated to addressing Spain’s most pressing cybersecurity challenges and will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions and case studies in Spanish.

Day one opens with the panel discussion “New Global Threats, New Defenses: Security Strategies in Response to a Shifting Geopolitical Landscape.” Moderated by Javier Sánchez Salas, CISO at ENGIE España, the panel will examine how geopolitical tensions, including state-sponsored cyberattacks and critical infrastructure risks, are redefining the threat landscape in Europe and Spain. Panelists Antonio Cerezo Hormeño, head of cyber security at Sanitas; Tomás Gómez, CISO at Gobierno de La Rioja; and David Andres Hurtado, global head of cyber security governance risks and resilience at Naturgy, will discuss what CISOs and cybersecurity leaders can do to respond to these global threats within the context of their organizations’ internal security.

“Spain’s cyber landscape is at an inflection point, shaped by regulatory reform, geopolitical volatility and the rapid influence of artificial intelligence,” said Kudsia Kaker, managing director, QG Media. “EspañaSec 2026 convenes the security leaders who are translating these pressures into real capability. Our goal is to create the kind of strategic dialogue that strengthens national readiness and aligns organizational resilience with Spain’s digital ambition.”

Additional day one programming continues this focus on adaptation and resilience. In the session “Future-Proofing Cybersecurity: Emerging Threats, Innovation and Strategic Resilience,” Jesús Abascal Santamaría, CISO at Plentitude, will explore how organizations can leverage innovation, artificial intelligence and automation to enhance security outcomes while maintaining appropriate human oversight.

While day one centers on external pressures and strategic response, day two shifts the focus inward to leadership, culture and execution. Fernando Cocaro, head of cyber security at Clariant, will present “Cyber-First Culture: How to Put Cybersecurity at the Heart of Your Company.” The session will offer practical guidance on embedding security into daily operations, communicating cyber risk effectively to executive leadership, and fostering a culture in which employees at all levels take ownership of security.

EspañaSec 2026 addresses the challenges facing Spanish organizations navigating a structurally changing cyber landscape, where European regulations such as NIS2, DORA and the AI Act are redefining governance, accountability and digital resilience. “Cybersecurity is undergoing a deep transformation driven by global geopolitical instability and by a European regulatory framework that is moving toward greater resilience and digital sovereignty,” Santamaría said.

By aligning national priorities with practitioner realities, EspañaSec equips security leaders to protect critical services, ensure compliance, guide digital transformation and sustain trust in an increasingly complex digital environment.
