Security Leaders to Discuss NIS2, AI, HyperSOC Implementation and Next-Gen Threat Response

Princeton, NJ – QG Media, an ISMG comoany, announces the 9th edition of the ItaliaSec Cyber Summit, scheduled for May 13 and 14, 2025, in Rome. The landmark summit will bring together cybersecurity experts and industry leaders to address the growing challenges of securing digital environments amid complex regulatory requirements and advanced threats.

Attendees will include CISOs, security directors, information security managers and data protection officers across sectors, such as healthcare, transportation, energy, postal services, manufacturing, financial services and government. The summit’s agenda features a robust lineup of panel discussions, case studies, presentations, group discussions and roundtables led by cybersecurity experts from both public and private sectors.

“As digital transformation accelerates across Italian industries, security leaders must balance regulatory compliance with innovative defense strategies,” said Kudsia Kaker, managing director at QG Media. “ItaliaSec Cyber Summit’s 9th edition addresses this dual challenge by featuring real-world case studies like ASL Roma 1’s HyperSOC implementation alongside crucial discussions on AI governance and NIS2 requirements, equipping participants with actionable insights to transform security from a business constraint into a competitive advantage.”

Stefano Scaramuzzino, CISO at ASL Roma 1, will present a case study on day one detailing his organization’s transformation from traditional security tools to a HyperSOC model. His session will explain how intrusion detection, centralized log management and endpoint protection technologies strengthened the healthcare provider’s infrastructure and enabled a shift from reactive to predictive threat management. This comes at a time when Italy has seen a 29% year-on-year rise in cyberattacks, with the number of affected entities tripling, according to the country’s National Cyber Security Agency.

Day 2 will feature an interactive group discussion on the multifaceted challenges of enterprise AI governance, led by Franco Marconcini, global CISO at Electrolux Professional Group. Marconcini will share insights from Electrolux’s experience creating AI vendor assessment protocols that protect company data while maintaining compliance with evolving European AI regulations.

A panel discussion on NIS2 and incident response governance will include Simonetta Sabatino, head of cyber security at Saras; Valerio Visconti, CISO at Autostrade per l’Italia; Nicola Sotira, head of CERT at Poste Italiane; and Pierpaolo Romano, CISO at Italo. Panellists will explore incident management processes, resource mobilization strategies and the evolving CISO-executive relationship in light of new regulatory responsibilities.

“The ItaliaSec Cyber Summit comes at a critical time when organizations across Italy are navigating complex regulatory requirements like NIS2 while defending against increasingly sophisticated threats,” said Jennifer Eisenhofer, vice president of events at ISMG. “By bringing together security leaders from diverse sectors, this event creates a unique opportunity for professionals to exchange practical strategies, benchmark their approaches and build the collaborative relationships essential for strengthening Italy’s cybersecurity ecosystem.”

As Italy ramps up enforcement of the NIS2 directive and accelerates implementation of its national AI strategy, convening security leaders in Rome ensures proximity to policymakers, enhances intersectoral collaboration and reinforces the summit’s role as a catalyst for shaping resilient, future-ready digital infrastructure across the country.

ItaliaSec – a CPE-certified event – provides attendees with more than just insight – it delivers valuable education and professional development. Through shared expertise and collaboration, participants will be empowered to elevate their security posture and contribute to building a more resilient digital ecosystem across Italy.
