Finding the Buyers Who Protect Industrial Operations

Industrial cybersecurity carries an immediate connection to the physical world. The audience is thinking about the systems that keep operations running, and a vendor’s marketing needs to reflect that setting. Finding someone with a general interest in security is only the beginning of identifying a relevant OT buyer.

A global operational technology and industrial control systems security provider needed to reach this specialized audience. The objective was enterprise demand among critical-infrastructure organizations, supported by greater visibility across international markets.

Specialized demand required specialized access

ISMG delivered 11 programs across North America, EMEA, APAC and Latin America. The mix included content syndication, webinars, sponsorships and custom editorial, aligned with account-based marketing.

The audience definition was central to the work. OT and ICS gave the campaign a specific operational setting, while account targeting focused the effort on relevant organizations. Seniority added another dimension by identifying the roles the provider needed to reach within that market.

This combination matters for an industrial security vendor because even an impressive audience total can leave an essential question unanswered: how much of that audience works in the environment the product serves? The content and distribution need to carry the same understanding of the market.

ISMG’s OT audience access supported that alignment. Custom editorial and educational formats gave the provider ways to speak to the subject, while the campaign structure brought those conversations into a coordinated international effort.

Global scale within a narrow field

The programs delivered 5,473 qualified leads. Director-level and more senior roles represented 53% of the leads, and promotion generated more than 3.6 million impressions. The work consistently exceeded contracted lead goals.

Those results demonstrate the size of the opportunity within a carefully defined specialist audience. They also show why selecting a narrow field does not automatically limit a campaign to a small local program.

For marketers serving industrial and critical-infrastructure organizations, the case highlights the value of getting the audience definition right before pursuing scale. Relevant accounts, appropriate roles and credible OT content gave this provider a practical basis for expanding its reach across four regions.
