Building a Senior Audience for Cloud Security
A familiar cloud brand may have little trouble attracting general interest. The more demanding task is consistently reaching the senior people who can shape an enterprise security decision. That requires care in both the subject matter and the audience invited to engage with it.
A Fortune 100 cloud provider worked with ISMG to strengthen thought leadership and generate qualified demand across regions. The program centered on educational, research-driven content suited to enterprise cybersecurity buyers.
Research created a reason to pay attention
ISMG used content syndication, webinars and videocasts, supported by account-based marketing, email and display promotion. The broader work also included a targeted EMEA webinar program.
The content strategy gave the provider a way to contribute something useful to the security discussion. Research-driven material can provide a starting point for examining a problem, helping a vendor move beyond a familiar brand name into a more substantive conversation.
Audience selection needed to support the same purpose. A program aimed at senior security demand has to consider who receives the content and which accounts the campaign should reach. Broad visibility is more useful when there is a clear connection to the provider’s enterprise market.
ISMG brought those choices together through its cybersecurity audience and coordinated promotion. The different formats offered several ways for a buyer to encounter the material, while targeting kept the commercial objective in view.
Seniority was a central result
Across four campaigns in 2023, the provider received more than 2,600 leads. C-level, VP and Director roles represented 93.7% of the leads.
That concentration is the central story. It shows a substantial program reaching predominantly senior roles, giving the provider an audience profile aligned with its objective. The result is especially useful for marketers evaluating whether their demand activity is reaching the level of responsibility the sales strategy requires.
A strong cloud brand still needs a specific reason for a senior buyer to engage. In this case, educational content and deliberate audience selection worked within the same program. The marketing lesson is to define the people the business needs to reach, then build a credible discussion that gives those people a reason to participate.
