Princeton, N.J. December 2, 2016
Information Security Media Group, the leading media provider to the information security community, held its inaugural New Delhi GovInfoSec Asia Summit on Dec. 1 and 2. This Summit brought together senior-level cybersecurity practitioners across multiple verticals, including government, education and general industry, and tackled such areas as compliance, risk management, resilience, incident response, and cyber law and law enforcement.
“This Summit brought together cybersecurity professionals, technology providers and industry influencers concerned about protecting India’s critical infrastructure from evolving cyber threats,” said Geetha Nandikotkur, ISMG managing editor, Asia and the Middle East. “ISMG’s event helped shape the mindset of security practitioners in the region and has brought together stakeholders from all areas to work together to counter future threats.”
Amit Sharma, Additional Director, Office of Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister, Ministry of Defence, delivered the first keynote on Dec. 1, “Cyber Weapons and Advanced Cyber Threats to National Security: Ways to Tackle Them,” which addressed the many threats public and private-sector organizations must contend with. On Dec 2. Dr. K.D. Nayak, Former Director General, DRDO, gave the second morning keynote that looked at India’s most pressing cybersecurity challenges going into 2017.
Industry influencers from the cybersecurity community led sessions throughout the event. Subject matter experts from organizations such as FireEye, SonicWALL, Palo Alto Networks and Symantec led sessions on how to prepare cyber defenses as the world becomes increasingly digitized; protecting organizations from ransomware; ways to understand the mindset of cybercriminals and how to implement integrated cyber defenses.
The New Delhi Summit was the final event of ISMG’s 2016 calendar year. ISMG recently announced its 2017 Summit schedule, which includes North American Summits in Atlanta, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Chicago, New York and Toronto, and summits taking place in EMEA and AsiaPac, including Sydney, Dubai, London, Singapore, Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi.
