Security Experts to Explore Strategies, Tools and Standards to Make Cybersecurity a Business Enabler
Princeton, NJ – The 6th edition of the Benelux Cyber Summit, organized by QG Media – an ISMG company, will return to Amsterdam on November 5 and 6, 2024. The summit will bring together over 150 senior cybersecurity leaders from industries such as banking, automotive, utilities and manufacturing to discuss the latest trends in cybersecurity strategies, tools and standards.
The Benelux region is grappling with a complex cybersecurity landscape, with rising threats and a lack of organizational preparedness. A survey revealed that 96% of organizations in the Benelux region have experienced cyberattacks due to supply chain vulnerabilities, surpassing the global average of 93%. Belgium ranks fourth globally for cybercrime density, with 94 victims per million internet users. In 2023, the Netherlands’ Data Protection Authority handled over 25,000 data breach reports, affecting approximately 20 million people. These events highlight the urgent need for enhanced cybersecurity strategies, increased investment, workforce development and regulatory compliance.
The two-day event, themed “Fortifying the Future: Building Cyber Resilience in a Transformed World,” will feature presentations and discussions on critical topics such as national cybersecurity approaches, attack preparation and recovery, and compliance with new European regulations.
“The Benelux Cyber Summit has become an indispensable platform for cybersecurity professionals in our region. As we enter our 6th year, we’re proud to host an event that not only addresses current challenges but also anticipates future trends,” said Kudsia Kaker, managing director at QG Media. “We’re also excited to facilitate discussions that will shape the future of cybersecurity in the Benelux region.”
Phédra Clouner, deputy director general of the Centre for Cyber Security Belgium, will deliver a presentation on “A National Approach to Mitigating Emerging Cyber Threats.” Attendees will have the opportunity to explore geopolitical threats affecting cybersecurity, the use of AI by cybercriminals and supply chain threats. The session will outline a concrete, actionable national strategy for enhancing cyber protection, including the development of active cyber protection in Europe.
Alan Lucas, CISO of Homefashion Group B.V./Leen Bakker/Kwantum, will participate in a fireside chat titled “Weathering the Storm: How to Prepare for and Recover From Cyber Attacks.” The session will explore strategies for swift recovery and data restoration, aiming to minimize financial impact and operational downtime. Attendees will gain valuable insights in analyzing attacks and fortifying defenses to prevent future incidents.
“The summit provides senior leaders with a unique opportunity to connect, learn and develop strategies that will strengthen their organizations’ cyber resilience. The addition of our government plenary keynote this year underscores our commitment to providing effective tools for mitigating emerging cyber risks,” said Jennifer Eisenhofer, vice president of events at ISMG.
Benelux Cyber Summit 2024 will be a pivotal event for cybersecurity leaders, addressing critical challenges and fostering collaboration among industry experts. As organizations in the region face increasing cyberthreats, this summit will provide invaluable tools and practical strategies to enhance resilience and compliance.
